http://www.dgaiec.min-financas.pt/s...cao_Fiscal/faq_regularizacao_fiscal.html#como

Paul

I am English and my translation software is not too good, sorry!! But if anyone can help with basic Portuguese replies then I can try.

I will move to Portugal in January, I have been trying to understand the fiscal site and calculations below:
http://www.dgaiec.min-financas.pt/s...cao_Fiscal/faq_regularizacao_fiscal.html#como

I know I can bring a car to Portugal tax free if I take residence, but I have some other old cars and a camper van.

Could anyone tell me the following:

For a 1973 DS23 Citroen - would this be tax free because of it’s age?

For a 1989 Mercedes 560SEC - I know, I should not have bought this car! Is the calculation EUR 8161.92 for cc + 5019.60 for emissions, (I am guessing the emissions fiogure has to be the maximum), this equals 13,181.52 LESS 80% for the age, making 2637.30 . This car is RHD so I guess I will have to change the lights, fog lights and speedo.

For a motorcaravan, what are the rules - or where can I find them? for a 2.5TD 1995 3500KGS, for example

Will all these cars need certificates of conformity??

Any help will be most gratefully received, I am pulling out my hair here!

I live in Belgium and travel to Germany and France, so if anyone would like me to bring small pieces to them over the next few months, please tell me and I will try to oblige.

Best wishes from The Ardennes,

Paul

Hello, let me try to help.

so, for 1973 DS23 Citroen - would this be tax free because of it’s age?
yes, but you will need to transfer defenitly your residence to portugal.
It's no easy to legalize, it can take up 6 months, but there are some companies or clubs that take care of everything.
you don't need certificates of conformity, you can ask Citroen portugal (or ACAP, or mercedes, or VW etc etc) to stamp a model 1402 (portuguese document plus 100€ plus 30 days waiting).

For a 1989 Mercedes 560SEC - you have to know the co2 in g/km, and this value is measured in our IPO (like TUV, like ITV), and, just like an example, you can count with more than 500g/km (i payed for a m635csi of 88, 587g/km). So, for 500g/km plus the cubic engine value you pay more or less 9400€.
For 700g/km you pay, in total, 10500€, so it's a good idea not bring the car or try to make this the "tax free car" with residence transference.

For a motorcaravan, what are the rules?
it's free, don't pay taxes, just the documents (more or less 500€)

Will all these cars need certificates of conformity?
No, you can ask it for in portugal to the Mercedes, citroen ... ...

You can simulate here: http://www.e-financas.gov.pt/de/jsp-dgaiec/main.jsp.

then in your left, in blue you choose simuladores, then imposto automovel and thenyou have to translate heheh.

best regards
